sir,

I am directed by Mr. Secretary Thomas to

acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. F.6887/160/10

of the 13th November, forwarding the draft of a

despatch to His Majesty's Minister at Peking on the

subject of the alleged exportation of arms from the

United Kingdom to China via British Dominions and

Colonies, and to request you to inform Secretary

Sir John Simon that, as the note from the Chinese

Government of the 5th September refers only to

dependencies, he considers that no reference to the

Dominions should be made in any reply returned to

the representations made in that note.

This

course will involve the omission of the word

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE,

POREIGN OFFICE.

*Dominions"
